Review: Eat This, Not That

The Editor-in-Chief of Men’s Health David Zinczenko along with food and health editor Matt Goulding, came up with the new book “Eat This, Not That”. This book is not really a diet but more of a guide to making healthier choices when eating out or shopping.

Studies have shown that diet has a lot to do id you wan to lose unwanted pounds. And “Eat This, Not That” is a good nutritional guide to those who enjoy eating out. Menu of the famous and most common fast food and casual restaurants are broken down to the last calorie and you’ll be surprised how much your favorite dine-in order has!

It helps you make smarter choices when dining out and you will not be fooled by healthy-sounding meals. Did you know that a slice of a pan pizza from Pizza Hut has 650 calories? Not really a good choice, isn’t it?

It makes one controversial claim though. The authors claim that when following the recommendations of this book you will significantly reduce your waistline. However, most health and fitness experts disagree with this. Exercise and strength training will do this but on a diet alone, the possibility of losing those love handles is slim. You would lose weight but this would be cumulative and not body area-specific.

However don’t let this minor flaw stop you. There are so many benefits you can get when you have the information to help you decide which food choices are better and healthier.

Remember that the key to weight loss is cutting down on your calorie intake although making smarter fast food can certainly reduce your intake of calories; most of these foods are still high in calories. It would still help to cut down on calorie intake and practice portion control – and if you can help it, limit your eating out traditions as well.
